Hard Times

DJ Quietstorm

2010.04.20

A set for deep dancing, a dark, hard, shiny melding of everything from recent crack house to classic funk and chicago house, jazz and 80’s alternative emo, a little Michael and my mane Gucci Mane. Features two new Quietstorm Gucci Mane blends over Chicago house/deep house tracks. Plenty of effects and scratching, performed on the Numark NS-7, NS-FX, Serato Itch system. You know me, I flip anything nice. After you give it a listen, how ‘bout _you_ tell _me_ how to describe it!

Together We Made Magic: Live in Osaka - part II

DJ Quietstorm Live

2009.12.26

Recorded Live in Osaka, Japan, December 26, 2009 at Zettai-Mu 14th Anniversary Final, Ministry of Dance.

Performed on Numark NS-7 and a MacBook running Serato Itch. I also used a just-released Vestax VFX-1, which I got _the_day_ of the show, installed Itch 1.3 and hooked the effects controller for the very first time _during_sound_check_, just a few hours before the show itself. All of the effects-stuff you hear is basically me trying out stuff for the first time, hoping there was some heat in that box. As you can hear, I found some.

This is Part II, the main section, most of which is made up of brand new edits I hadn’t performed in public yet, or had time to practice with at all. On top of all that, the NS-7 _itself_ was still new to me—this was the 4th or 5th time I’d brought it on stage. With one of the most powerful yet delicately beautiful sounding sound sytems I’ve heard and a packed crowd ready and waiting for me to take them on a mad trip, I knew that this was a once in a blue moon chance to create some real magic. All of this added up to an unusually exciting and dramatic time not only for me on stage, but the 5~600 music lovers who found themselves in the middle of the musical hurricane we created.

On this night I found musical freedom.

In Osaka they be lovin’ me, and I be lovin’ back.

(Part II’s track list consists of parts of “Call it Jazz” Mix and parts of “Tokyo 2600” Mix.)
